The Patient Escort is responsible for safely escorting hospital and ambulatory patients traveling by wheelchair, stretcher, or hydraulic stretcher to their appointments or destinations, ensuring a comfortable and timely experience.
This position requires strong customer service and the ability to provide support in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Escort patients to their destinations, including initial appointments, ensuring safe and timely transport.
Complete a daily disinfection and tracking log for each patient, capturing essential details such as date, start time, equipment asset tag number, and disinfectant used.
Sanitize wheelchairs using the “High-Touch” Disinfection/Inspection Protocol before patient use.
Assist patients on and off wheelchairs following an equipment checklist.
Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients and caregivers at all times.
Independently navigate throughout the campus and transport patients to appointments.
Lift and push patients in wheelchairs, including the ability to move patients who weigh 200 pounds or more.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of patient care experience.
Heavy customer service experience.
Ability to push a minimum of 200 pounds using a wheelchair.
Ability to follow directions and effectively communicate.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong customer service skills with experience in a healthcare environment.
Experience or training in safely transporting patients.
