Job Summary:
The Medical Scribe works directly alongside physicians and healthcare providers to document patient encounters in real-time. This clerical role ensures the accurate, timely, and thorough recording of patient care information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, contributing significantly to effective clinical workflows and positive patient outcomes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Document patient histories, physical examinations, procedures, lab results, diagnoses, and treatment plans in real-time as dictated by the healthcare provider.
- Update and maintain Electronic Health Records (EHR) in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Assist with collecting and reviewing patient medical histories and confirm record accuracy.
- Input orders, prescriptions, and other medical documentation under provider direction.
- Coordinate with healthcare staff to ensure efficient workflows and patient care continuity.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Review documentation for accuracy and address any discrepancies.
- Manage clerical tasks such as faxing, scanning, and phone communications related to patient care.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned (no direct patient care involved).
Required Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and medical terminology.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Understanding of HIPAA and data confidentiality standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical transcription or healthcare documentation.
