Patient Services Representative

Location: Monterey, California

Job Summary
• Serve as the primary point of contact for electronic scheduling and registration of patients
• Support operational workflow by coordinating schedules for both patients and providers
• Work collaboratively with patients, families, clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure a smooth patient experience
• Conduct patient interviews by phone or in person to complete scheduling and registration processes
• Establish eligibility and verify insurance benefits
• Identify and collect co-payments, and obtain authorizations if assigned
• Clearly communicate patient out-of-pocket responsibilities using a “Patient Friendly” approach
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities

Registration
• Collect, verify, and update patient demographic and guarantor information
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility
• Manage referrals and run patient estimates using the Price Estimator Tool
• Collect co-pays and estimated out-of-pocket expenses as appropriate

Scheduling
• Schedule appointments and handle patient registration
• Answer incoming phone calls and manage customer service inquiries
• Monitor access issues with provider schedules and report concerns to Supervisor
• Follow scheduling protocols to ensure efficient use of clinical resources
• Schedule procedures and tests with appropriate lead times and resources

Patient Satisfaction
• Contribute to patient satisfaction through process improvement activities
• Ensure high-quality contact experiences in all patient interactions
• Provide complete scheduling, registration, service instructions, and financial responsibility information in one point of contact
• Direct patients to the appropriate Hospital Service Department as needed

Required Qualifications
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to collect and verify patient information accurately
• Experience with insurance verification and collecting payments
• Proficient in appointment scheduling systems and tools
• Ability to multi-task and manage patient inquiries professionally

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
• Familiarity with Price Estimator Tools and referral systems
