Job Summary:
The Imaging Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration, and support of core clinical imaging systems (PACS, RIS, Voice Recognition) and ancillary systems. This role performs security maintenance, system troubleshooting, system upgrades, and application maintenance. The Imaging Systems Engineer works closely with clinicians, staff, and vendors to ensure connectivity to imaging systems, provide training, and resolve system-related issues. The role also involves coordinating system upgrades and ensuring overall system functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support (90%):
Administer, support, install, and maintain enterprise-wide Keck Clinical Imaging Systems.
Provide off-hour on-call support for system issues and apply independent judgment to resolve them.
Work independently and as part of a team on assigned projects.
Ensure proper system functionality and resolution of issues related to imaging technology.
System Design & Implementation (10%):
Assist in the design and lead projects related to the implementation and support of Keck Clinical Imaging Systems.
Provide escalation support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of system issues.
Collaborate with IS teams to ensure that imaging systems comply with organizational standards and policies.
Identify, troubleshoot, and recommend solutions to system problems, ensuring smooth operations.
Collaboration & Troubleshooting:
Work with organizational clinicians and IT teams to facilitate system modifications and issue resolution.
Resolve problems, workflow issues, and equipment-related concerns that impact imaging operations.
Provide after-hours and weekend support as part of the 24x7 system availability model.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Biomed, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting clinical imaging technology environments.
- At least 1 year of experience with installation, operations, maintenance, and support of at least 2 of the following systems: RIS, Radiology PACS, Cardiology PACS, Voice Dictation, Advanced Post Processing, RadOnc EMR, EKG/EEG, GI.
- Working knowledge of DICOM, HL7, and IHE.
- Familiarity with Imaging Modalities (XR, US, MRI, CT, Nuclear, Mammo, EKG).
- Experience supporting Imaging Informatics system interfaces.
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN, wired/wireless networking technologies.
- Familiarity with computer hardware (advanced workstations, diagnostic monitors).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional imaging systems or technologies is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of networking and system architecture related to clinical imaging.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications in clinical imaging or IT systems (e.g., PACS, RIS, DICOM, HL7) are a plus.
