Job Summary
The Patient Escort is responsible for safely escorting hospital and ambulatory patients traveling by wheelchair, stretcher, or hydraulic stretcher to their appointments or destinations, ensuring a comfortable and timely experience.
This position requires strong customer service and the ability to provide support in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients to their destinations, including initial appointments, ensuring safe and timely transport.
- Complete a daily disinfection and tracking log for each patient, capturing essential details such as date, start time, equipment asset tag number, and disinfectant used.
- Sanitize wheelchairs using the “High-Touch” Disinfection/Inspection Protocol before patient use.
- Assist patients on and off wheelchairs following an equipment checklist.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients and caregivers at all times.
- Independently navigate throughout the campus and transport patients to appointments.
- Lift and push patients in wheelchairs, including the ability to move patients who weigh 200 pounds or more.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of patient care experience.
- Heavy customer service experience.
- Ability to push a minimum of 200 pounds using a wheelchair.
- Ability to follow directions and effectively communicate.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills with experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience or training in safely transporting patients.
